Frequently Asked Questions
-
Anyone who is curious. You don't need any personal experience or professional background in end-of-life care to attend. We welcome family caregivers, people navigating their own illness or a loved one's, those who are grieving, clergy and ministry leaders, healthcare workers, doulas, funeral professionals, and anyone who wants to think more openly about mortality and what it means to live well.
-
Not specifically, but it's hard to think honestly about mortality and death without involving values and beliefs. Our speakers intentionally represent a range of perspectives and religious beliefs, and our hope is to create a space where all people can be held with openness and respect. Wherever you're coming from, we invite you to bring your whole self, your questions, fears, and faith system included.
-
No, people of all faiths and no faith are warmly welcome, and you’re invited to choose the breakouts that fit you. Most sessions are practical, clinical, creative, or contemplative in a broader sense. Some sessions draw on the Christian tradition and speak directly to professing Christians – these will be clearly indicated as such in the title or descriptions.
-
Many people come to this gathering carrying a loss, and we hope you'll find it a gentle and supportive space. Conversations will touch on death directly, so we encourage you to take care of yourself: step out whenever you need to, and choose sessions that feel right for where you are. The Reflection Room will be available throughout the day for those who need quiet and to step aside, and death doulas trained in grief support will be on hand to support.
